Population dynamics and environmental quality in Africa

چکیده
The nexus of population dynamics and environmental degradation has been discussed widely in the extant literature. Most related studies have utilized carbon emission as a proxy quality. However, does not capture multidimensional nature degradation. To fill this gap, study ecological footprint to because it is more dynamic quality measure. paper examines population-environmental hypothesis for five populous African countries (DR Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa Tanzania) using panel information from 1990 2019. Cross-sectionally Augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) was employed assess relationship among data – per capita (ECFP), growth rate (POPG), density (POPD), urban (URBN), age structure (AGES), GDP (PGDP), energy consumption (ENEC), trade openness (TRAD). findings revealed that POPG, POPD, AGES, PGDP, ENEC TRAD increase Urbanization (URBN) no significant influence on selected countries. concludes with policy prescriptions geared towards addressing expansion improving

Population dynamics, synchrony, and environmental quality of Hokkaido voles lead to temporal and spatial Taylor's laws.
Taylor's law (TL) asserts that the variance in a species' population density is a power-law function of its mean population density: log(variance) = a + b × log(mean). TL is widely verified. We show here that empirical time series of density of the Hokkaido gray-sided vole, Myodes rufocanus, sampled 1962-1992 at 85 locations, satisfied temporal and spatial forms of TL. The slopes (b ± standard ...

Dispersal, Environmental Correlation, and Spatial Synchrony in Population Dynamics.
Many species exhibit widespread spatial synchrony in population fluctuations. This pattern is of great ecological interest and can be a source of concern when the species is rare or endangered. Both dispersal and spatial correlations in the environment have been implicated as possible causes of this pattern, but these two factors have rarely been studied in combination. We develop a spatially s...

T volume includes papers from a conference held at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research in 2010. The aim of the conference was to examine the histories of populations on the African continent through the use of a variety of data sets—archaeology, genetics, paleoenvironments, and paleontology—to reach a more nuanced understanding of hominin skeletal and behavioral evolution, how po...
